Kamera Express acquires Germany’s GM-Foto

The Dutch photo and video trading company Kamera Express takes over the German specialty store GM-Foto in Frankfurt, according to Foto Contact. This means after Hanover, Kamera Express will have a second superstore in Germany and will also add a third online shop to its portfolio. The dealer operates online with the Camera Express, Photospecialist, and now GM-Foto in Germany. According to Retail Detail, CEO Ben Cornelisse wants the company to be in the top three in Germany “within the foreseeable future”. “In 2020, we will have grown by more than 30 percent in Germany, and we expect double digits for this year as well.”

Kamera Express operates 13 superstores in the Netherlands, five in Belgium, one in Luxembourg, and two locations in Germany. The retailer is active in 10 European countries via the Internet under the Photospecialist brand.

Kamera Express was purchased in 2018 by Vendis Capital.
